Sciatica

Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. The cause is what we fix.

About Sciatica

Sciatica is the umbrella term for pain that travels down the sciatic nerve, often into the buttock, the back of the thigh, the calf, or all the way to the foot. The cause is almost always one of three things: a lumbar disc compressing the nerve root, a piriformis muscle compressing the sciatic nerve, or SI joint dysfunction referring along the same path.

We identify which of these is driving your symptoms on day one and build care from there. Most cases respond well to non-surgical care.

Common causes

  • Lumbar disc bulge or herniation pressing on a nerve root
  • Piriformis syndrome (muscle entrapment of the sciatic nerve)
  • SI joint dysfunction referring along the nerve path
  • Spinal stenosis in older patients

How we treat it

  • Non-surgical spinal decompression for disc-driven sciatica
  • Specific lumbar and SI adjustments
  • Piriformis trigger-point release and stretching
  • Nerve glide rehab to restore neural mobility
