Chiropractic Care

Individualized chiropractic care for back, neck, and certain joint-related symptoms, guided by your history, exam, and goals.

About Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care commonly includes manual treatment of joints and muscles. A spinal adjustment, also called spinal manipulation, uses the hands or a device to apply a controlled thrust to a spinal joint. Mobilization uses movement within the joint's natural range without a thrust. The first question is whether either approach fits your symptoms and health history.

At Limitless Life Chiropractic in Tampa, Dr. Romp and Dr. Soler offer hands-on Gonstead and instrument-assisted Activator and Arthrostim techniques. Your history, examination, preferences, and clinical findings guide the discussion of options. Not every patient needs an adjustment, and imaging is not automatic.

For some adults with low-back pain, spinal manipulation may offer small improvements in pain and everyday function. Results vary; immediate relief and a particular number of visits cannot be promised. Discuss activity, exercise, other treatment options, and when to reassess rather than relying on adjustments alone.

Evidence & safety

What the evidence supports, and its limits

NCCIH summarizes modest benefits for some low-back pain presentations and more limited or inconsistent evidence for neck pain. Research does not establish that adjustments improve internal-organ function or prevent disease. Chiropractic care should not replace medical evaluation for symptoms outside a musculoskeletal problem.

NICE's low-back pain guidance recommends considering manual therapy only alongside exercise, with additional support when appropriate. This is guidance about treatment options, not evidence that one chiropractic technique is best or that a particular patient will improve.

Temporary soreness, stiffness, or headache can follow manipulation. Serious complications, including spinal or neurological injury and stroke, have been reported and are very rare; their frequency cannot be estimated accurately. Neck manipulation has been associated with rare tears in neck arteries that can lead to stroke. Whether manipulation causes these tears is debated, but the potential risk should be discussed before treatment.

Share your medical conditions, medications, previous injuries, and any pregnancy with your clinician. Ask about likely benefits, risks, alternatives, and whether referral or coordination with another healthcare professional is more appropriate.
