Sprains & Strains

Sprains and strains heal, but the right care makes recovery faster and recurrence less likely.

About Sprains & Strains

A sprain is a ligament injury. A strain is a muscle/tendon injury. Both follow a predictable healing pattern: inflammation, repair, remodeling, usually 4–8 weeks total.

We work in phases matched to where the tissue is in that healing process, using soft-tissue work, electrotherapy, and progressive loading rehab.

Common causes

  • Sudden overload (ankle roll, lifting injury)
  • Repetitive overuse
  • Sport-specific trauma

How we treat it

  • Acute phase: protect, manage pain, reduce inflammation
  • Repair phase: gentle motion and soft-tissue work
  • Remodeling phase: progressive loading and rehab
  • Return-to-activity coaching
