Scoliosis

We can't 'straighten' an adult scoliosis curve, but we can dramatically improve function and pain.

About Scoliosis

Scoliosis means a lateral (sideways) curve in the spine. In adults, the goal is rarely to reverse the curve, it's to manage the pain, restore function, and prevent the curve from worsening.

We use a combination of adjusting, soft-tissue work, and corrective exercise that respects the curve and addresses the compensation patterns that drive most of the pain.

Common causes

  • Idiopathic (most common, cause unknown)
  • Congenital (present from birth)
  • Degenerative (adult-onset from disc and facet changes)
  • Compensatory (driven by leg length difference, postural strain)

How we treat it

  • Pain-driven adjusting matched to the curve
  • Soft-tissue work on overworked muscles
  • Posture and breath training
  • Scoliosis screening for adolescents and adults
